The PCE-CRC 10 adhesion tester has been designed to check the quality of adhesion of coatings. You can use the adhesion tester on any type of surface with thin, thick, or hard coatings. The adhesion of paints and other coatings is a production and quality characteristic that determines their protective effect. This is why the adhesion tester is used in many sectors of the industry. The adhesion tester allows for quick and easy adhesion checks. You simply need to scratch the coating in a cross pattern, which will cause it to fragment in a checkerboard manner. The large non-slip handle and movable head ensure a secure cut without twisting. Then, an adhesive tape is placed and removed again. Depending on the number of fragments that have stuck to the adhesive tape, you can determine the adhesion of the coating. When ordering the adhesion tester, please specify the type of blade you want. The fields of use for the adhesion tester include the paint, varnish, and plastics industry, the material processing industry, and any product that needs to be coated. The adhesion tester is also suitable for manufacturers of signaling materials and for applicators. When using the adhesion tester, you can make cuts at an angle of 30° (Method A) or perpendicular (Method B) so that the cut forms a cross or an X. These testing methods can be used to qualify coatings as suitable or unsuitable. In multilayer systems, you will need to check the adhesion of each layer in parallel.

Selection of the appropriate cross-cutting method

- Method A (X-cut): for checks according to ASTM D 3359 with thickness 

  > 125 µm 

- Method B (cross-cutting): for checks according to ISO 2409 standard 

  with thickness between 0 and 250 µm and ASTM D 3359 with thickness < 125 µm
