The DIN cup viscometer is a meter for determining the viscosity of liquids. The cup viscometer is often applied in industry and research laboratories. Due to the type of method, it only allows the determination of low viscosity liquids, as if their viscosity is too high, the liquid will not be able to pass through the nozzles. Therefore, for Newtonian liquids, this cup viscometer provides the most accurate results. Based on the flow volume and the measured time that the liquid takes to pass through the cup nozzles, viscosity is determined. The start time begins when the liquid exits the bottom of the nozzle. It stops when the liquid no longer flows evenly or when the liquid exits the bottom of the nozzle. There are also immersion cups suitable for quick on-site measurement, which are directly immersed in the product to be measured. As soon as the cup is removed and the liquid exits through the nozzle, you can start measuring the time. Once the measurement is completed, it is essential to clean the cup viscometer; otherwise, residues could skew the results in future measurements. Please note not to use sharp or pointed instruments for cleaning. Scratches and scuffs also affect the results in the cup viscometer.
