The digital durometer is a compact device for checking Shore D hardness, which is needed for slightly harder materials, such as hard rubber and thermal plastic. A 30º cone and a pressure force of 50 Newtons are used as the penetration body of the digital durometer. Measurement tests should have a minimum thickness of 6 mm. If it is less, the material to be tested should be reinforced on the back with the same material, thus increasing the thickness.
