The ultrasonic flowmeter is used for control measurements or to quickly detect flow in a pipe, making it a portable and easy-to-install measurement system. The ultrasonic flowmeter operates according to the time difference method. The measurement principle of the flowmeter is very simple. In a diagonal measurement in a tube, it takes less time to measure in the direction of the flow than against it. The higher the flow rate, the more time is needed to measure if the measurement is against the flow, and less time if the measurement is in the direction of it. The difference between the flow times in the direction of the flow, or against it, directly depends on the flow velocity. The flowmeter uses this effect to determine the flow velocity and flow rate. The electro-acoustic transducers receive and emit short ultrasonic pulses through the medium flowing in the pipe. The transducers are positioned vertically offset on both sides of the tube to be measured. The non-destructive sensors are placed over the tube and are fixed, for example, with a clamp. In a short time, the display indicates the flow velocity. The ultrasonic flowmeter can be used in metal, plastic, and rubber pipes.
