The Bostwick ZXCON viscometer allows for a quick and simple measurement procedure to determine the flow properties of viscous fluid substances. With the Bostwick viscometer, the flow distance over a specified time of a liquid that spreads or a pasty material is determined in a physical comparison process. This measurement procedure used with the Bostwick ZXCON viscometer is also known as the Bostwick test. The Bostwick viscometer consists of a tray divided by a vertical slider into two chambers of different sizes. The smaller chamber of the Bostwick viscometer is used for receiving a sample substance. The larger chamber is located above the ground and is equipped with a scaled path. Once the sample is filled and the slider is opened with the Bostwick ZXCON viscometer, the distance that the substance covers in a specified period of time on the scaled bottom of the tray is determined. To achieve high repeatability precision and comparable values, it is absolutely necessary during the test to have an absolutely horizontal alignment of the Bostwick ZXCON viscometer. For this reason, the Bostwick ZXCON viscometer is standardly equipped with a level as well as leveling feet. The Bostwick viscometer is especially used in the food industry to characterize and compare the consistency, viscosity, or flow of sauces, jams, preserves, soups, or ketchup. The Bostwick viscometer is also of great help in the classification of paints or cosmetics.

Quick start guide for the Bostwick ZXCON viscometer

- Place the device and level it.

- Close the slide with spring with the trigger unit.

- Introduce 75 ml of sample material (top left image)

- Abrir la corredera. (imagen superior derecha)

- Read the result after 30 seconds. Generate an average value between the length

  of the flow at the edge and the medium.
