  • The Hydrolysis Unit HU 6 can accommodate 6 glass cylinders Ø 42 mm, allowing for the hydrolysis of up to 6 samples simultaneously.

    The amount of samples to be subjected to hydrolysis varies depending on the fat content, in the range of 3-10 g.

    Hydrolysis is performed in acidic environment (hydrochloric acid 4N) and in some cases also in basic environment (ammonia at 20% p/v) for about one hour at a temperature of 170°C.

    The hydrolyzed sample is filtered and washed with deionized water to remove any traces of hydrochloric acid; it is then subjected to solvent extraction in the SER 148 3/6 unit to determine the percentage of total fats.

    HU6 allows operation in condiciones reproducibles and total seguridad for the user, saving time and reducing the cost of chemical reagents. The compact design of the instrument also reduces the space occupied on the laboratory bench.
