The Shore durometer with a fine probe and small support surface of Ø 8 mm is used for measuring in hard-to-reach places or uneven surfaces. The Shore durometer has been developed to measure the hardness of rubbers, plastics, elastic materials, textiles, printing rollers, etc. All models are factory calibrated according to PCE's internal standard (following ASTM D 2240 / support surface of Ø 8 mm). Whenever possible, the thickness of the material to be checked should be greater than 6 mm. If it is less, the material to be checked should be reinforced on the back with the same material, thus increasing the thickness.
